Lot 0133: ANTIQUE 19TH C RUSSIAN OIL PAINTING BY IVAN VELTZ

41 reviews

Ivan Augustovich Veltz, 1866 to 1926, oil on canvas laid on cardboard Romanticism painting depicting a forest landscape. Housed in an old richly decorated gilt wood and gesso frame with an artists name metal plaque attached to the frame. Note: Ivan Augustovich Veltz was a Russian landscape painter of Austrian origin who captured the beautiful landscapes of the Russian countryside. Veltz attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Saint Petersburg before joining the Petrograd Society of Artists and Kuindzhis Society. As follower of The Wanderers artist movement, Veltz hoped to move away from the strict restrictions of the Academy to paint the landscapes of the countryside with a new sense of realism. Most notable for his sweeping landscapes, Veltz traveled throughout Russia and Eastern Europe, depicting nature with almost mystic qualities. His paintings were regularly exhibited with the Moscow Society of Lovers of the Arts and St. Petersburg Society of Artists. One of a kind artwork. European Fine Art And Wall Decor Collectibles.
