Lot 0042: FRENCH QUEEN WILHELMINA LITHOGRAPH BY PAUL BERTHON

41 reviews

Paul Emile Berthon, French, 1872 to 1909, an Art Nouveau color lithograph on paper, Dutch Queen Wilhelmina, Tulips and Windmills, 1901. Signed in the print, upper right. Additionally inscribed, With Best Wishes, and signed, lower right. Framed. Paul Berthon was a French artist who produced primarily posters and lithographs. Berthons work is in the style of Art Nouveau, much like his contemporary Alphonse Mucha. His study of the decorative arts influenced his print making, influencing the strong lines and natural details that guided his art. The vast majority of Berthons lithographed posters did not include advertisements and were meant to stand on their own. Antique European Graphic Art Prints and Collectibles.
