Stenberg Brothers, Vladimir Stenberg, 1899 to 1982, and Georgii Stenberg, 1900 to 1933, lithographic poster for the exhibition, The Great Utopia The Russian and Soviet Avant Garde 1915 to 1932, for Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum September 25 to December 15, 1992. Firstly, it was a poster for the movie, The Eleventh Year, 1928 by Dziga Vertov. Signed in the print, lower right. Titled and inscribed in the print, lower to the center. This documentary film is showing the hard labor of countrymen in industrial production to strengthen the U.S.S.R. economy and turning their country into a world power. Vladimir Stenberg were Russian avant-garde Soviet artists and designers, best known for designing film posters for Sergei Eisensteins movies, Dziga Vertovs documentaries, and numerous imported films. The pair worked in a constructivist and, later, productivist styles, in a range of media, initially sculpture, subsequently theater design, architecture, and drafting.
