Abraham Walkowitz, American, Russian, 1878 to 1965, watercolor painting on paper depicting a still life with a bowl with flowers. Signed lower right. Framed. Abraham Walkowitz was a Russian American painter grouped in with early American Modernists working in the Modernist style. While never attaining the same level of fame as his contemporaries, Walkowitz close relationship with the 291 Gallery and Alfred Stieglitz placed him at the center of the modernist movement.
