A stunning large Japanese bronze incense burner, Meiji period, circa 1870-1880. The incense burner consists of four collapsible parts and a lid. Each piece is carefully crafted with amazing attention to detail. The base and stand are made in the form of a rock, massive stones and leaves. The central part, a cylindrical container, is decorated with a large bird and is surrounded by two large handles designed in the shape of pine trees. The lid is decorated with a bizarre figure of a samurai leaning on a wide branch. Oriental art, Japanese Censer, Home Decor Collectibles.
