An antique Japanese writing box, also known as suzuribako. Late Meiji era, before 1912. Rectangular lacquerware piece, wicker design, the lid is garnished with gold and mother-of-pearl inlay representing butterflies over a river. The box features an ink stone and a silver water dropper.
