Lot 0063: ITALIAN RENAISSANCE PAINTING GIOVANNA TORNABUONI

41 reviews

An antique Italian Renaissance portrait of Giovanna Tornabuoni, wood panel, possibly a study by Michelangelo when he was 13th-15th years old, between 1488-1490 (or one of other Ghirlandaio apprentices between 1485-1490). Following the research, the portrait of Giovana Tornabouni is a study after The Frescoes in the Choir of Santa Maria Novella in Florence, Italy which was created by Domenico Ghirlandaio and his workshop between 1485 and 1490. Following the painting marks, looks like the painting was made by a left-hand artist, Raffaello da Montelupo stated that Michelangelo, a natural left-hander, trained himself from a young age to become right-handed. Notably, one of the latter was almost certainly the 13-year-old Michelangelo who was apprenticed to Ghirlandaio in 1488 to 1490. One of a kind artwork. European Fine Art, Portrait Paintings And Wall Decor Collectibles.
