An acrylic painting on canvas by Maqbool Fida Husain. This painting depicts the female form or wife of the god Ganesha, who is called Vinayaki. The goddess is depicted dancing with a red lotus flower and a candle, which she holds in her trunk. The painting is signed at the top of the canvas and comes with a certificate of authenticity. Maqbool Fida Husain, known as M.F. Husain, 1915 to 2011, was one of Indias most eminent artists. Born in Pandharpur, his early years were spent in Indore. Using freehand drawing and vibrant color, he depicted Indian subject matter in the style of contemporary European art movements, particularly Cubism.
