Lot 0081: WINSTON CHURCHILL BRITISH STILL LIFE OIL PAINTING

41 reviews

Winston Churchill, British, 1874 to 1965, an oil on canvas painting depicting a still life with flowers and fruits. Signed with the initials: WSC, lower right. Bears Galerie Mathias Fels Paris stamps on the backside. Note: Sir Winston Leonard Spencer Churchill was a British statesman, soldier, and writer who served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom twice, from 1940 to 1945 during the Second World War, and again from 1951 to 1955. Winston Churchill was introduced to painting during a family holiday in June 1915, when his political career was at a low ebb. He continued this hobby into his old age, painting over 500 pictures of subjects such as his goldfish pond at Chartwell and the landscapes and buildings of Marrakesh. He sold some works, but he also gave away many of the works that he self-deprecatingly described as daubs as gifts. Unframed. One of a kind artwork. British Paintings And Wall Decor Collectibles.

Overall good vintage condition. Signs of wear and Age. Refer to photos. Sold as is.
Painting: W 20 in x H 16 in. All measurements are approximate.
