An antique porcelain soprano ocarina flute decorated with cobalt blue floral pattern, unmarked, attributed to the Meissen porcelain factory and dated circa 1890. It has 12 holes in addition to the main one and is richly decorated with a folk style floral pattern. When playing the ocarina, the airflow is directed to the relatively sharp edge of the hole, which causes the air to vibrate and produce sound. Musical Instruments For Musicians and Collectors.
