An antique American oil on canvas painting by Harry J. Kellogg, 1839 to 1895. The painting depicts a lady playing lute with a Cherub behind her back. Signed and dated 1893 lower right. Housed in an old heavily ornate gilt wood frame with an attached bronze name plaque. Note: Professor and artist Harry J. Kellog was born in Canandaigua, New York, on June 4, 1839. His father Daniel J. Kellogg was a native of that State and of Scotch ancestry. He was a member of the Royal Art Union of New York City, and also a celebrated historical and portrait painter.
