An antique late Grand Tour 23k gold coin reproduction referring to a replica of a histamenon that was issued during the reign of Romanos III Argyros, who was a Byzantine Emperor in the 11th century. The obverse features Christ enthroned facing, nimbus cross behind head, holding book of gospels and raising right hand, double border. The reverse shows Romanus on left, wearing a saccos and a loros and holding a cross on globe, being crowned by Mary, nimbate on right, MQ between their heads, double border. Grand Tour was from the 17th to early 19th century custom of a traditional trip through Europe, with Italy as a key destination, undertaken by upper class young Europeans. Weight: 3 g.
