An antique French Art Deco color lithograph playbill poster Venice, Operetta in three acts, music by Tiarko Richepin, libretto by Andre Mouezy Eon, words by Albert Willemetz. Marigny Theater, Paris, 1927. Illustrated by Charles Gir, French, 1883 to 1941. Printed by H. Chachoin. Published by Max Eschig et Cie, Paris. Circa 1920s. Signed in print and dated lower left. Note: Charles Gir, whose real name is Charles Felix Girard, was, during the Belle Epoque, a key figure in Parisian artistic life. Violinist in his spare time, passionate about operas, Charles Gir paints and sculpts, creates advertising posters for the theater, illustrates literary works and composes press cartoons and caricatures for various satirical magazines such as the Butter Plate.
