An antique Russian Orthodox hand painted icon of Mother Of God, Soothe My Sorrow. Mixed media painting: egg tempera, gesso, and levkas on wood board. Titled in Church Slavonic, upper right and left. Circa: the second half of the 19th century. The Mother of God is depicted holding with her right hand the Infant Christ, in whose hands a scroll is unfolded with the words.
