An antique Russian Orthodox hand painted icon of The Coronation of Mother of God. Mixed media painting: egg tempera, gesso, and levkas on wood board with kovcheg. Titled in Church Slavonic, upper right and left. Circa: late 18th century. The Coronation of the Mother of God is a common theme in Western European iconography: the coronation of the Virgin Mary as the Queen of Heaven after Her Ascension into heaven.
