An antique 18th-century Russian Orthodox icon of St. George slaying a dragon. Mixed media painting: egg tempera, gesso, and levkas on a wood board. Titled in Church Slavonic in the upper part. The icon comes with a certificate of authenticity signed by Helmut Brenske, a German collector and author of several books on icon painting. The legend of St. George and the Dragon has been prominent for the Eastern Christian religious and political spheres since the 12th century.
