Alberto Dutary, Panamanian, 1932 to 1998, color lithograph depicting nude male and female figures. Signed in pencil, lower right. Numbered in pencil, 9, lower left. Alberto Dutary, Panamanian painter. Dutary studied at the Escuela Nacional de Pintura in Panama and in Madrid, at the San Fernando Academy and the Escuela Nacional de Artes Graficas. From 1962 until 1992, he was art professor in private schools and at the University of Panama, where he became the first director of the Fine Arts Career Program in 1987. A notable draftsman and figurative painter, his works from the 1960s, including the Santos series, combined the surface textures of Spanish informalism with dramatic ghostlike figures. He later turned to more realistic, and at times surrealistic, still lifes. In the 1970s, he focused on mannequin like female figures that play with the concept of reality in paintings such as Figuras frente a la Bahia 1979. Modern Nude Graphic Art Prints and Collectibles.
