The icon is overlaid with a Silver oklad or riza, adorned with chased and engraved detailed patterns. Inscribed in Church Slavonic, upper right and left on the riza. Marked with an 84 standard Silver hallmark, and a makers mark. The Kazan Icon of the Mother of God is a revered miraculous icon of the Mother of God, which appeared in Kazan in 1579.
