An antique Russian Orthodox Christian hand painted Christ in Majesty icon. Tempera and gold on a wooden panel. Circa the 18th century. Features the Western Christian image of Christ seated on a throne as ruler of the world, flanked by sacred figures. The image develops from Early Christian art, as a depiction of the Heavenly throne.
