Jules Pascin, Bulgarian, American, French, 1885 to 1930, pencil painting on paper, Kindergarten, 1915. Signed, inscribed, U.S.A., dated, and stamped, Atelier Pascin, lower right. Handwritten annotations by Lucy Krohg, USA 1915. Expertise: The undersigned, Rosemarie Napolitano, Expert, declares that the drawing opposite reproduced is an authentic and original work by Pascin. Done in Paris, September 15. 09. 006. Signed and stamped, on the backside. Julius Mordecai Pincas, known as Pascin or the Prince of Montparnasse, was a Bulgarian artist known for his paintings and drawings. He later became an American citizen. His most frequent subject was women, depicted in casual poses, usually nude or partly dressed. Pascin was educated in Vienna and Munich. He traveled for a time in the United States, spending most of his time in the South. He is best known as a Parisian painter, who associated with the artistic circles of Montparnasse, and was one of the emigres of the School of Paris. One of a kind artwork.
