A pair of antique late 19th-century porcelain covered vases or decanters. Meissen Schneeballen style. Flattened bottle-shape. The pieces decorated with hundreds of white mayflowers. The sides are garnished with polychrome glazed sculpted fruit. The bulbous lids are set with flowers in pastel colors. One of the items. has a pseudo Meissen hallmark on the bottom. Meissen Porzellan is a prominent German porcelain manufacture founded in 1710. Schneeballen translates from German as snowball and refers to the bulbous spheres that are a distinguishing feature of Schneeballen porcelain vases, the first of which was crafted in 1739 by famed Meissen decorator Johann Joachim Kaendler.
