Lot 0256: RICHARD MEIER FOR SWID POWELL SKYSCRAPER BOWL

41 reviews

A large vintage Italian Swid Powell Skyscraper silverplate fruit bowl, designed by Richard Meier and manufactured by Cleto Munari, circa the 1980s. The round bowl is adorned with a continuous rim band with cut out squares. Marked to the underside: Silver Plated, Swid Powell, RM. Richard Meier is an American abstract artist and architect, whose geometric designs make prominent use of the color white. As a postmodern designer, Meier looked to historic styles for inspiration, particularly the work of the early twentieth-century Viennese workshop, the Wiener Werkstatte. His designs therefore reflect an interest in geometric shapes, minimal decoration and simple, functional forms. Vintage European Designer Tableware And Barware Pieces For Home Decor.
