A fine Russian presentation egg, of an ovoid shape, the body is covered with red enamel on a wavy guilloche background pattern and adorned with applied bicolored gold foliate swags tied with ribbons and set with cabochon cut rubies. The hinged cover is also decorated with applied gold wreaths, Imperial eagles set with rubies and diamonds and mounted with a relief Imperial crown decorated with white enamel and set with diamonds. The cover is opened to reveal a darling sterling silver elephant figurine with ruby eyes and a large ruby cabochon on top. Raised on a Red guilloche inverted conical foot atop a circular plinth. Hallmarked with a 56 Russian gold standard for 14K gold, crossed anchors for St. Petersburg, the Cyrillic makers mark MP, and other Russian hallmarks. Comes with its original fitted wooden box.
