An antique 19th-century Russian Orthodox icon representing Christ Pantocrator. Egg tempera painting on gesso and wood with silver gilt riza or oklad featuring hand-chased and polychrome cloisonne enamel details. According to the canon, Jesus is depicted in a simple robe, holding in his left hand an orb and a scepter, as symbols of supreme power while his right hand is raised in a gesture of blessing. Hallmarked on the bottom of the riza with an 84 silver standard and the makers mark: IG, possibly for Gusev Ivan Alexandrov, silversmith, Vologda peasant, 1850-1871.
