A unique collection of personal archive from Francis Rea MacMillen, 1885 to 1973, an American violinist. The collection includes a group of portrait photos, family photos, portraits with animals, and others; several cabinet portraits of women from Paris, inscribed and marked; several printed brochures and programs of The National Symphony Orchestra, Arthur Bodanzky, Francis MacMillen, and Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra, Regular Symphony Season 1924 to 25, conductor Frederick Fischer; and others. Francis Rea MacMillen was an American violinist. At the age of seven, he began studying at Chicago Musical College, where his teacher was Bernhard Listemann. From 1895 to 1899, he studied with Carl Markees and with Karl Halir in Berlin and from 1900 to 1902 with Cesar Thomson at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, where he received two prizes. He is also the author of several compositions for the violin: Barcarole, Serenade Negre, Causerie, Liebeslied, Nijinsky et al.
