A pair of antique German Meissen Porcelain Factory centerpieces or sweetmeat compotes. Each is modeled in a figural form, one depicts a couple of ladies and the other couple of gentlemen wearing 18th century costumes and holding above their heads a small flower painted dish with pierced rim, standing on naturalistically molded bases with openwork sides. Neatly hand-painted and accented with gilding. Each is stamped with a crossed swords mark in underglaze blue, and other impressed and incised markings. Circa 1850 to 1900.
