A large antique German Meissen Porcelain Factory centerpiece or sweetmeat compote modeled with a figural stem representing a couple wearing 18th century costumes and holding an oval dish decorated with hand-painted floral arrangements accented with gilding and featuring a pierced rim above their heads. Raised on a naturalistically molded base with openwork sides. Finely modeled and beautifully hand painted. Stamped with a crossed swords mark in underglaze blue, and other impressed and incised markings. Circa 1850 to 1900.
