Watercolor on paper painting. Indian Company school, late 19th century. The artwork depicts a buggy. White mat. Company school, also called Patna painting, is the style of painting that developed in India in the second half of the 18th century in response to the tastes of the British serving with the East India Company. Favorite subjects were scenes of Indian daily life, local rulers, and sets of festivals and ceremonies. Collectible Oriental Graphic Art, Indian Miniature Painting.
