A WWII Nazi German cover portion of a folding world map, Englands Schuld, Englands Shame, that served as a wrapper for a special supplement of the Nazi publication Illustrierter Beobachter. The 48 page supplement was heavily illustrated with photos and cartoons, all attacking the imperialist Shame of England. The attack dates to the 16th century and describes British misconduct at home and abroad, with numerous attacks on the Jews. It includes an article by Joseph Goebbels. Illustrated and created by Josef Lazarus. Signed and dated in the print, on the cover lower right. The cover shows a British soldier in a sedan chair, holding a whip and smoking his pipe as he looks down with disdain at the African, Asian and Middle Eastern slaves in chains who carry him. The verso is dominated by a world map comparing the extent of the British Empire with those of Germany, France and Poland. Illustrierter Beobachter, Sondernummer, Illustrated Observer, Special Edition, 1939. Munich: Franz Eher Nachfolger, Zentralverlag der NSDAP, the Central Publishing House of the NSDAP.
