Philipp Rupprecht or Fips, German, 1900 to 1975, a WWII Nazi German Anti Semitic caricature offset lithographic broadside print on paper depicting a caricature portrait, Der Politiker, The Politician, for the Anti Semitic tabloid newspaper Der Sturmer. Signed in the print lower to the center. Titled in pencil, upper to the center. Titled in German in the print lower to the center. Philipp Rupprecht was a German cartoonist best known for his anti Semitic caricatures in the Nazi publication Der Sturmer, under the pen name Fips. With the exception of 1927, he was Der Sturmers sole regular cartoonist under the pen name of Fips until February 2, 1945, when the last edition of Der Sturmer appeared, drawing thousands of anti Semitic caricatures. His style changed during the course of his career. Among his other works were illustrations for two anti Semitic childrens books published by Sturmer Verlag: Trau keinem Fuchs auf gruner Heid und keinem Jud auf seinem Eid, Don't Trust a Fox in a Green Pasture Or a Jew Upon His Oath, 1936, and Der Giftpilz, The Poisonous Mushroom, 1938. Der Sturmer was a weekly German tabloid format newspaper published from 1923 to the end of World War II by Julius Streicher, the Gauleiter of Franconia, with brief suspensions in publication due to legal difficulties. It was a significant part of Nazi propaganda, and was virulently anti Semitic. WWII European German Anti Semitic Graphic Art Prints For Collectors.
