An antique Russian Orthodox hand painted icon of Mother of God with Jesus Child in Tikhvinskaya iconography. Mixed media painting: egg tempera, gesso, levkas, gilded on a wood board with kovcheg. Titled in Church Slavonic, lower to the center. Circa: 19th century. Theotokos of Tikhvin is one of the most celebrated Orthodox Christian icons that is said to be one of the icons written by St. Luke the Evangelist.
