An antique Japanese Satsuma enamel pottery bowl. The exterior of the ware is adorned with polychrome hand enameled image of Geisha ladies. The interior of the bowl features medallions depicting male figures against the architectural landscape background, and mesh and floral patterns, surrounded by floral and foliage motifs with gilt accents. The borders are decorated with geometrical ornaments and scalloped rims. Fine detail work. Marked with a four character seal mark, Kinkozan Tsukuru, in gold on red, a Kyoto label, numbered, and a Callao mark, on the bottom. Circa: early 20th century. Satsuma ware is a type of Japanese pottery which originated in Satsuma Province, since the 19th century it was mainly produced for Western export and therefore elaborately decorated.
