A mid-20th century hand-painted plaster bust. After a 1860s marble and bronze sculpture by Pietro Calvi, 1833 to 1884, an Italian sculptor. The piece represents Othello, a famous Shakespearean character. It is said that Calvi based his artwork on the likeness of Ira Aldridge, 1807 to 1867, who was the first African actor to play the part. Hallmark Minnesota Minning MFG, 1969 is on the backside. Collectible Sculpture And Decor.
