Alexej Alexejewitsch Kharlamov or Harlamoff, Russian, 1840 to 1925, antique oil painting on board depicting a portrait of a man. Signed lower right. Aleksey Alekseevich Kharlamov is a Russian artist, portrait master, and academician of the Imperial Academy of Arts. Kharlamov is one of the most prominent Russian painters of the second half of the 19th century, who achieved recognition not only in Russia, but also in Europe. The artistic heritage of the master is quite diverse: it contains portraits that are distinguished by the depth of psychological characteristics, works of the everyday genre, close to the Wandering tradition, but the most significant part of it is the so called heads, created in line with the salon art of that time and distinguished by grace and some sweetness. One of a kind of artwork.
