An antique Balinese Kamasan hand painted pigment on a cotton canvas. The painting depicts a mythological scene with Hindu characters in the Old folk art style. Probably a scene from the Mahabharata, one of the two major Sanskrit epics of ancient India depicting Garuda and Vishnu capturing Amrita, the nectar of immortality, surrounded by a profusion of allegorical figures. In Hinduism, Vishnu is one of the principal divinities, and Garuda is a divine bird. Circa: early 19th century. Antique Religious Indonesian Paintings and Artworks, Wall Art, and Collectibles.
