An ancient Late West Roman Imperial to early Byzantine Empire superb stone mosaic depicting a running bear. The bear sprints to the right. The forelegs are raised as if preparing for another powerful stride with hind legs. One almond shaped eye peers out from behind the lengthy snout, and an open mouth. Tessera pieces are original 4th to 5th century but the overall image is a reconstruction following archaeological patterns and notes in situ. Framed.
