A pair of Chinese hand carved Jade figures in the Tang manner, made for export. The first figure is made of Jade, decorated with black patina, and depicting a Warhorse, the pride of the Tang dynasty, a time known for its prosperity, military expansion, and artistic achievement. The horse wears a crupper, a strap that is buckled underneath the tail to prevent the saddle from slipping forward. The seond figure is made of spinach green Jade, and depicts a Foo dog. The figures are engraved with detailed patterns. The horse figure is mounted on a rectangular shaped base. Presented in a box, marked with a paper label of Guangdong Arts and Crafts.
