Chikanobu Yoshu, Japanese, 1838 to 1912, an original antique woodblock print on paper, Playing Polo, from the series, The Outer Palace of Chiyoda. Published by Fukuda Hatsujiro, 1897. Inscribed, upper right. Signed, two red seals, and stamps, lower right. Toyohara Chikanobu, better known to his contemporaries as Yoshu Chikanobu, was a Japanese painter and printmaker who was widely regarded as a prolific woodblock artist during the Meiji epoch.
