An antique Japanese Meiji Era covered tripod enamel metal censer koro. Circa: late 19th century to early 20th century. The sphere form ware is enameled with polychrome images of Phoenix birds surrounded by a foliage pattern made in the Cloisonne technique. The cover is adorned with polychrome floral, foliage, butterfly, and geometrical motifs made in the same technique and a figurine of a Foo dog on the top. The neck and the base of the ware are decorated with polychrome floral, foliage, and geometrical ornaments made in the same technique. The ground is inlaid with a Gold stone. Mounted on three legs. The ware features a pair of curved handles. The bottom is adorned with a polychrome image of a flower and a swirl motif in the Cloisonne technique. Unmarked.
