A set of two WWII Nazi German shields including the Cholm Shield, the rarest of the German combat shields, was awarded to those who fought in the Cholm Pocket on the Eastern Front between 21 January and 5 May 1942. It was instituted on 1 July 1942 and ceased to be bestowed on 1 April 1943. And a rare WWII German Balkan shield badge. It was designed by Benno von Arent and had the text Balkan with the dates 1944 and 1945 on either side of an eagle with swastika over a map of the Balkans. This shield was to be presented to the forces who were holding back the Balkans in addition to the red army, the forces here had to content with constant partisan activity.
