Vasily Grachev, Russian, 1831 to 1905, bronze sculpture, Farewell Kiss, depicting a scene of a farewell kiss of a Cossack with his beloved. Circa: late 19th century. Mounted on an oval shaped base. Marked with an impressed mark of Grachev and foundry mark Fabr. C. F. Woerfell Bronze St.Petersburg, on the base. Vasily Yakovlevich Grachev, 1831 to 1905, was a Russian sculptor, the main competitor to Eugene Lanceray. He stopped modeling after Lancerays death in 1886. Both of them together made a great input to Russian sculptural art by competing and inspiring each other. Grachev used to cast all his works at Woerffel foundry, St. Petersburg.
