A pair of hand colored etchings Les Peupliers and La Cote by Maurice Menardeau, French, 1897 to 1977. Both are signed lower right and framed in the same style with paper labels attached to the backside. Note: The French artist Maurice Menardeau studied at the Ecole des Beaux Arts, in Paris, but at the age of 19, was called to serve in WWI as a telegraph officer. At the end of the War, he decided to devote himself professionally to painting and studied under the tutelage of maritime painter, Dominique Charles Fouqueray. In 1936, at the age of 39, he was appointed an Official Painter of the French Navy, and of course, traveled many times around the World.
