Additionally inscribed, on the backside. A paper label of the Grace Borgenicht Gallery Inc., on the backside. Ilya Bolotowsky is known for Geometric abstract painting, murals, teaching. In 1923 he came to the United States. He lived in New York, and studied at the National Academy of Design. During this period, he joined the art group The Ten, which was also attended by such young artists as Louis Shanker, Adolf Gottlieb, Mark Rothko, and Joseph Solman. Members of the group opposed the inertness of the Academy and organized exhibitions of Independent Art. One of a kind artwork.
