A fine quality antique Japanese Meiji era enamel metal plate, circa 1868 to 1912. The central medallion depicts a scene with birds and butterflies sitting on a blooming branch. The central part is surrounded by six medallions depicting picturesque scenes with partridge birds, flowers and butterflies on a ground decorated with stylized geometric motifs. The backside is decorated with a swirl ornament made in the Cloisonne technique. Has a hanging mechanism on the backside. Unmarked.
