A lot of antique Civil War era American banknotes. A total of four 100 Dollars bills of Confederate States of America. Three banknotes of Fifth Series, T–49, the obverse showcases soldiers, Lucy Pickens and George W. Randolph. One banknote of Fourth Series, T–41, the obverse features John C. Calhoun and slaves working. Each bill was by issued Keatinge and Ball, Columbia, SC. The Confederate States dollar was first issued just before the outbreak of the American Civil War by the newly formed Confederacy. It was not backed by hard assets, but simply by a promise to pay the bearer after the war, on the prospect of Southern victory and independence.
