A pair of rare identical Japanese unusual shaped enamel over brass bud vases. Each vase has a sphere shaped body with a narrow neck and a narrow base. The exterior of the vases are enameled with polychrome medallions with symmetrical images of butterflies, floral, foliage, scrollwork and traditional Greek patterns. The ground is inlaid with Goldstones. Mounted on footed stands. Unmarked. Circa: the first half of the 20th century.
