An antique Spanish Colonial oil on canvas painting depicting Saint Anthony holding the Infant Jesus and white lilies. Spanish school, probably 18th century. The halos and clothing of the saint are decorated with delicate gilt ornaments. St. Anthony of Padua, 1195 to 1231, was a Portuguese Catholic priest and friar of the Franciscan Order. He was one of the most quickly canonized saints in Catholic church history, being canonized less than a year after his death.
