An antique Chinese cast bronze and enamel sculpture. The sculpture depicts Guanyin dressed in flowing robes and holding a ruyi scepter in her hand, she is sitting on an elephant. The figure is engraved with detailed patterns and enameled with polychrome floral, foliage and scrollwork motifs made in the Cloisonne technique. Marked with an impressed stamp. Circa: early 20th century. Guanyin is a character of Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, and Japanese mythology, a bodhisattva or a deity who appears mainly in a female form, saving people from all sorts of disasters.
