A collection of identical Japanese enamel wares. The collection includes a pair of identical vases and a pair of kogo or boxes for incense. The exterior of the vases are enameled with polychrome images of sakura flowers and butterflies, floral, swirl and geometrical patterns made in the Cloisonne technique. A pair of covered incense boxes are enameled with polychrome medallions with flowers, foliage and geometrical patterns made in the Cloisonne technique.The ground of the wares are inlaid with Goldstones. A kogo is used for holding incense and historically most often at the tea ceremony, the temple, or for the small worship area in the home. The kogo is also a wonderful item of character to decorate with, in addition to placing small items in, and around the house or office. They also make great collectors items, and gifts.
