An antique Russian Orthodox arched shaped Sovereign Icon of Mother of God. Mixed media painting: egg tempera, gesso, and levkas on wood board with double kovcheg. Inscribed upper right and left. The Sovereign Icon of the Mother of God is a miraculous icon of the Mother of God revered in the Russian Orthodox Church. The icon is a symbol of statehood and the desire for spirituality.
